Those that enjoy walking through largely virgin country, interspersed with small scale farming, vineyards, groves of lemons, oranges, olives & almonds, the occasional field of lavender, and always amongst the scent of wild herbs, are in for a treat!

We have put together an 8 day itinerary: 5 days guided walking, 1 day free to explore; plus only 1½ days travelling door-to-door to/fro Gatwick courtesy of easyJet.

Accommodation will be in a small boutique hotel in the centre of Kut, one of the prettiest villages in Dalmatia on what is definitely the prettiest Dalmatian island! Dinner will be at 6 of the best restaurants on the island and feature only local produce including fish, lamb, a variety of antipasta, salads, etc. The island is well known for its wine & one evening one of the island's best wine producers will host a wine tasting in their restaurant.

In addition you will have the opportunity to hear something of the island’s illustrious past & its strong relationship with the Royal Navy: first, during the “golden” years of prosperity, 1810 – 1815, when Capt Sir William Hoste (a protégé of Nelson) vanquished a much larger French squadron in 1811 and built 2 fortresses to defend the island; & then again in 1944/45, after Fitzroy Maclean persuaded Churchill to divert a small but very effective British fighting force to bolster the island’s defence. This enabled Tito’s partisans & the Allies to eject the Germans from Yugoslavia.
